HOLIDAY ACCOMODATION - ITALY
|
Please note that, typically of most medieval housing, there is no lift. Ventimiglia Alta is a small, friendly working class town, relatively unscathed by mass tourism. Monuments include an 11th century cathedral and baptistry. Accomodation is available by prior arrangement only in a pleasant twin or double room with hand basin, and heating, with shared bathroom. Breakfast is provided, and the kitchen can be used for self catering for a small extra charge. A small charge also covers use of the washing machine. Bed linen and Bath towels are provided. Please bring your own beach towels. The guest room faces east, with a glimpse of the sea, and a wide view of the Roya Valley and the Maritime Alps. |

Grocery shops, a baker, a small supermarket, and several cafe/bars are 50mt away in Via Garibaldi, and there is a good Pizzeria just around the corner. Other shops, an excellent daily produce market and restaurants are a 10 minute downhill walk away in the new town, as are pebbly and sandy beaches. There are numerous privately run beaches, offering deck chairs and unbrellas for hire, alternating with free beaches. Every Friday, the Riviera's largest street market is held in the new town. |

Ventimiglia Alta is linked by bus to the new town and also the French border, via La Mortola and the Hanbury Botanic Gardens to Menton Garavan - 10 km. Trains run frequently between Ventimiglia and Nice and beyond, up the Roya Valley to Limone (1,000mt), Cuneo and Turin, and along the Riviera to Genova and beyond. With the French border only 10km away, this is the ideal base for exploring the Cote d'Azur, as well as the delightful villages and towns of the Ligurian coast and inland areas, whether by car, public transport or on walking paths. Convenient free parking is readily available. This is a great place to practice your Italian and enjoy sunshine, sea and plenty of vibrant local atmosphere.
